Betting with XRP: the Tag That Decides Whether a Deposit Lands

Coin · XRP

XRP settles in seconds and costs a sliver of a coin to send, yet a deposit without the right destination tag can sit at the operator's address with no account to go to. This page puts the tag first, then the reserve, then the cashiers that list XRP.

XRP betting sites share one trap that no other coin on this site sets. The money moves in seconds and the fee is close to nothing, but the deposit screen shows two things to copy, not one: an address and a destination tag. Miss the tag and the XRP still arrives, just not in your account. Everything else about XRP at a sportsbook is easier than with most coins. That one field decides whether the deposit counts.

The destination tag comes first

A sportsbook, like an exchange, usually takes XRP into one shared address and tells customers apart by a number attached to each payment. That number is the destination tag. The XRP Ledger documentation describes it as a 32-bit unsigned integer that the ledger itself does nothing with; it exists for the business receiving the payment. xrpl.org calls this arrangement hosted accounts: one funded address, many customers, a tag for each.

The consequence is blunt. The ledger will deliver XRP to the operator's address with no tag, or with the wrong one, and the operator is left holding a payment it cannot match to anyone. Nothing is credited automatically. Getting it back to your balance becomes a support case: the transaction hash, the amount, the time and some patience. A receiving account can switch on a setting called RequireDest, and then the ledger refuses a payment that has no tag. That is the kinder outcome, because the payment fails rather than landing unassigned, but you cannot tell from outside which way an operator has set it.

So copy the tag every time, even when it looks the same as last time. Whether a tag stays fixed for your account is the operator's decision, not the ledger's.

Classic address, tag, or X-address

A classic XRP Ledger address starts with a lower-case r and is 25 to 35 characters long. The tag is a separate number entered in its own field. There is also a second format, the X-address, which packs the address and the tag into a single string. On the main network these start with a capital X.

For a deposit, follow whatever the cashier shows. If it gives an r-address and a tag, enter both, in their own fields. If it gives an X-address and your wallet accepts that format, the tag travels inside it and you have one thing to paste instead of two. If your wallet asks for a tag and the cashier only shows an X-address, ask support for the classic pair rather than guessing.

XRP betting sites that list the coin

The table that follows is built from published coin lists. Vave heads every listing on this site, so it sits first here too, but its cashier does not take XRP; the six operators after it name XRP, ordered from the longest coin list to the shortest.

What their rules say:

  • Vave lists six coins: BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, DOGE and TON. If you hold XRP and want Vave, you would convert first. Its terms are read in the Vave review.
  • Rakebit has fifteen coins, XRP included, and caps withdrawals at €10,000 per 24 hours. Licensed in Anjouan.
  • Rocketpot lists thirteen coins with XRP among them and pays within 72 hours under clause 11.3.
  • Wild.io names XRP in a list of twelve and states payouts in 10 to 60 minutes. Licensed in Curaçao.
  • DuckDice lists ten coins including XRP and asks for documents at its discretion without naming a sum. Licensed in Anjouan.
  • Rainbet names XRP without a total count. Its home page speaks of payouts in 5 to 15 minutes in normal conditions; that is a page, not a clause of its terms.
  • Metaspins also names XRP without a total, and prints no processing time in section 12.

Seconds per ledger, drops per transaction

New ledger versions close about every 3 to 5 seconds, according to the Ledger Close Times page on xrpl.org. The network side of a deposit or a withdrawal is therefore over almost before you have switched tabs. If a deposit to one of these XRP betting sites takes longer than a minute or two to appear, the cause is the operator's processing or the tag, not the chain.

The cost of sending is measured in drops, a millionth of one XRP. A standard transaction needs at least 10 drops, which is 0.00001 XRP, and xrpl.org notes that this amount is destroyed rather than paid to anyone. It rises when the network is busy, by design, to make spam expensive. In practice the network fee is a rounding error on any stake. What you pay on top is the withdrawal charge of the wallet or exchange sending the coins, and that is set by them.

The reserve: why 1 XRP stays behind

Every XRP Ledger account must hold a minimum balance. As checked on xrpl.org on 6 October 2026, the base reserve on Mainnet is 1 XRP and the owner reserve is 0.2 XRP for each object the account owns, such as a trust line or an open offer. Reserved XRP cannot be sent to anyone, though it can pay transaction costs, and some of it comes back if you delete the account. The figures are not fixed forever: validators can vote new reserve settings in through the fee voting process, so read the current values before relying on them.

For betting, this matters at one moment: the first withdrawal to a wallet you have just created. An address does not exist on the ledger until it receives at least the base reserve, so a payment smaller than 1 XRP to a brand-new address cannot fund it. After that, 1 XRP of the balance stays locked for as long as the account lives. Expect the spendable balance to be 1 XRP lower than the total you were paid.

Withdrawing to an exchange: the tag again

When you cash out to an exchange, the roles swap. The exchange is now the business with a shared address, and it gives you a destination tag or an X-address. The sportsbook's withdrawal form has to carry that tag, or the exchange faces the same unmatched payment problem described above, this time with your winnings.

Look at the withdrawal form before you request anything. If it has a tag field, enter the exchange's tag there. If it accepts an X-address, that does the same job in one string. If it has an address field and nothing else, do not paste an exchange address into it. Withdraw to a wallet you control, which needs no tag because the address is yours alone, and move the XRP on to the exchange from there. Our guide to crypto wallets for betting explains which kind of wallet suits this.

How long the operator takes to approve the withdrawal is a separate question from the chain, and the fast withdrawal betting sites page compares those clauses.

A deposit checklist for XRP

  1. Open the XRP line of the cashier and copy both the address and the destination tag, or the single X-address if that is what it shows.
  2. Check that a classic address starts with r, and that the tag in your wallet matches the cashier digit for digit.
  3. Read the minimum deposit on the same screen; the operator sets it.
  4. If your wallet is new, remember that 1 XRP of it will stay as the reserve and cannot be bet.
  5. Send a small first deposit if anything about the address or tag looks unfamiliar, and wait for it to be credited.

XRP betting sites reward care with speed: once the tag is right, the deposit is there in seconds. Decide your limits before the first bet; the responsible gambling page lists the tools on offer. Other coins, including those without any tag, are on the coins hub.

What happens if I send XRP to a sportsbook without the destination tag?
The ledger delivers it to the operator's shared address, but the operator cannot tell whose it is, so nothing is credited automatically. You will need support, the transaction hash, the amount and the time. If the operator's account requires tags, the payment fails instead and stays with you.
Which xrp betting sites list XRP in the cashier?
Rakebit, Rocketpot, Wild.io, DuckDice, Rainbet and Metaspins name XRP in coin lists we could read. Vave, which heads every listing on this site, does not take XRP; its coins are BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, DOGE and TON.
Why did 1 XRP stay locked in my new wallet?
That is the base reserve. On the XRP Ledger an address needs at least 1 XRP to exist, and that amount cannot be sent away. Each extra object the account owns, such as a trust line, holds another 0.2 XRP. The values are set by validator voting and can change.
How long does an XRP deposit take?
New ledger versions close about every 3 to 5 seconds, so the network side takes seconds. Anything longer is the operator's own processing or a missing tag.
Do I need a tag when withdrawing XRP to an exchange?
Yes. The exchange holds many customers at one address and gives each a tag. Enter it in the sportsbook's withdrawal form, or use the exchange's X-address if the form accepts one. If the form has no tag field, withdraw to your own wallet first.
